Eligibility for CSR-1 Filing with the ROC

To be eligible for NGO CSR-1 FILING, NGOs must meet the following criteria:
Registered NGO : The applicant must be a registered NGO, such as a Section 8 company, trust, or society, or an NGO established by the Central or State Government.
Experience of NGOs : NGOs should have conducted at least three years of permitted social activities.
12A and 80G Registration : NGOs must be registered under sections 12A and 80G of the Income Tax Act.
Stepwise Process of Online CSR Registration
Documentation : Documentation is critical for the approval or rejection of the CSR-1 form. It’s advisable to gather all necessary documents in advance to avoid issues later.
Prepare CSR-1 E-form : The CSR-1 form is a digital PDF form available on the MCA website. Fill it out carefully and attach the certificates of the trust/society/Section 8 company. The e-form must be signed with the Digital Signature of the authorized directors/trustees/secretaries.
Certification by CA/CS/CMA : The CSR-1 form, duly signed by the authorized representative, must be certified for eligibility for CSR registration with the ROC by a practicing Chartered Accountant, Company Secretary, or Cost & Management Accountant.
Submission of Form CSR-1 : Once the CSR-1 form is filled, signed, and certified, it can be submitted online through the MCA portal. The MCA will provide a receipt with a trackable SRN number as acknowledgment of the CSR-1 filing.
Issuance of CSR Registration Number : After submission, the ROC will thoroughly examine the application. Upon successful verification, a unique CSR Registration Number will be issued to the NGO, enabling it to undertake CSR activities in India.
